Motor Mouth Camp
At the 2009 More Than Gadgets Conference, participants completed a short survey about the possibility of running a camp in Western Australia for children who use augmentative and alternative communication aids and devices. With the generous support of Variety WA, this possibility was turned into a reality in 2011. The Motor Mouth Camp was held from 29th April – 3rd May 2011 at the Point Walter Campsite. The camp was attended by 15 children with complex communication needs and their families. This presentation will detail our camp experience and outcomes. An overview of planning the camp, the camp schedule, what worked well and what could be improved will be shared. Lastly, feedback and experiences from families and participants will be evaluated in light of planning the future of the Motor Mouth Camp in WA.
